I can do that. Diabetes Blog Day

9 11 2010

Today is diabetes blog day.
This year’s topic is: 6 things you want people to know about diabetes.
There are way more than 6, but here goes…

6. You can’t catch it.
5. I don’t have it bad, I don’t have just a little. I just have it.
4. Yes. I can have salt. In fact I can have sugar and anything else too.
3. No one knows why I got it. Not enough research has been done. It is not because I ate too much sugar.
2. Blood glucose readings are not a judgement. They help me make a decision on my next step.
1. I can do anything you can do…better.

Leave your top 6 in the comments.

This is Joe. He is a 72 year old ex-marine and says, “I am the Number One Diabetic.” When scrubbing the dirt off a dozen canoes wasn’t enough, Joe took a dip in the lake.

The video that started it all…

How many times have you been asked these same questions?

I photographed Don early in the summer. He is one of those people who seems to be good at everything. Whatever he is into, be practices non-stop until he conquers it. Here he is hitting bulls eye after bulls eye.

While I was traveling, someone told me,  “Diabetics can’t see well.” Don would beg to differ.

Meet Erin. She is a mother of two wonderful children, a wife and a leader just to name a few.

Every month she runs a ‘Stamp Camp’ night at her home, teaching women how to create their own home made cards. Wait until you see her work! Its beautiful, creative and one of a kind. If you ever need custom invitations or greeting cards, Erin is your woman.

Oh, and yes, of course Erin has diabetes.
